“If you can tell stories, create characters, devise incidents, and have sincerity and passion, it doesn’t matter a damn how you write.” (Somerset Maugham)

I found this week’s quote over on Writer’s Digest (it’s a different post on writing than the one I quoted from before – I have many sources at my disposal). The reason this one stood out to me is because I have read so many books and heard so many pieces of advice on how you should write that this was quite refreshing! This quote reminds me that, above all else, I need to love my characters and do their stories justice. If some theory book doesn’t agree with how I end my sentences then so be it.

Love your characters, listen to their voices and let them speak!
