What I’m currently reading
ARC of EVO Shift
I was lucky to receive an Advanced Reader Copy of EVO Shift by K.J. Chapman, and so far I’m getting through it rather quickly! A full review will follow once I’ve finished it, but so far I’m really enjoying it and am worried for my few favourite characters who are still alive in this sequel. It’s been a rather tense but quick read so far with a few natural laughs built in to ease the tension.
Release Date: 1st March 2016, available as eBook
Blurb:
She killed him, but did it make a difference?
Her kind has been exposed, abused, and segregated, and now Teddie Leason is Britain’s most wanted EVO at just nineteen. Teddie has to decide whose side she is on, what she fights for, and whether it’s worth her life.
How can she protect the man she adores, the Uncle who has taken her under his wing, and her unfaltering friends, when she can barely take care of herself? Dealing with new power and a history that has long since been forgotten, has rendered the world’s most powerful EVO vulnerable and at risk.
When will she be dealt a winning hand? Could a clandestine, renegade group of EVO change not only her fate, but that of everyone affected by this unprecedented war? And how does Teddie fit in a world bracing for a shift of unfathomable magnitude?

What I recently finished reading
As always the full review will follow tomorrow. I can’t believe I’m done with this series, that I’ve read all 17 books, but I am and I have and I’m in that awkward position now where I don’t want to move on but am excited for the next adventure, too. It’s been a fantastic ride, and Goodkind makes me want to be a better writer.
Blurb:
Soulmates, pawns of prophecy and inheritors of an ancient conflict, Richard and Kahlan’s destinies have been bound together since their first encounter in Wizard’s First Rule. But now Richard lies on a funeral bier – suspended between the worlds of life and death and Kahlan faces her greatest challenge.
She must fight for Richard’s very existence, and Richard, trapped in the underworld, must fight to keep the world of life from ending. Desperate sacrifices are required. This is the final battle in a war three-millennia old, a war that saw the Sword of Truth forged, a war that could mean the end, not only of their lives, but of their world.

What I think I’ll read next
I can’t decide. Two weeks ago I said I’d read The Name of the Wind next, but since then I’ve bought myself a few new additions and I’d really like something shorter after Goodkind’s series. I’m torn between these two:
I’ve been wanting to read a book by her for so long, I can’t wait to finally get to it. I’ve also heard a lot of good stuff about this book which has me even more excited for it. She also seems like a wonderful person from what I’ve seen of her on twitter, which I know shouldn’t influence me but, well, it does. It’s been high up on my reading list for a while, so if I don’t read this next it’ll be the one after.
Blurb:
Kell is one of the last Travelers—rare magicians who choose a parallel universe to visit.
Grey London is dirty, boring, lacks magic, ruled by mad King George. Red London is where life and magic are revered, and the Maresh Dynasty presides over a flourishing empire. White London is ruled by whoever has murdered their way to the throne. People fight to control magic, and the magic fights back, draining the city to its very bones. Once there was Black London—but no one speaks of that now.
Officially, Kell is the Red Traveler, personal ambassador and adopted Prince of Red London, carrying the monthly correspondences between royals of each London. Unofficially, Kell smuggles for those willing to pay for even a glimpse of a world they’ll never see. This dangerous hobby sets him up for accidental treason. Fleeing into Grey London, Kell runs afoul of Delilah Bard, a cut-purse with lofty aspirations. She robs him, saves him from a dangerous enemy, then forces him to another world for her ‘proper adventure’.
But perilous magic is afoot, and treachery lurks at every turn. To save all of the worlds, Kell and Lila will first need to stay alive—trickier than they hoped.
My other option is this:
I love a good psychological background in a book. If you’ve read my About Me you’ll know that I read psychology books for fun. This was too tempting for me not to pick up, and Kathryn Evans is such a sweet lady from what I’ve seen of her online (I’m so easily influenced! I don’t pick all my authors that way… I swear I don’t.) . I can’t wait to read this. I was so excited for it that I pre-ordered it (after having forgotten that I also entered the give-away – it’s okay, I didn’t win).
Blurb:
Teva seems normal. But at home she hides an impossible secret: 11 other Tevas. Because once a year, Teva splits into two, leaving a younger version of herself stuck at the same age, forced to watch the new Teva taking over her life. But at 16, Teva’s had enough. She’s going to fight for her future – even if that means fighting herself.
Imagine all your friends growing up, moving on, and you being stuck in one year of your life… More of Me is an incredible, unforgettable story of identity, friendship, love and sacrifice.
Now, I do believe I’ve got a book to pick!

Read ADSOM next!!! It’s great! I’m going to re-read it before A Gathering of Shadows comes out (I have it on pre-order).
And it’s true: Victoria Schwab comes over as lovely from Twitter 🙂 If she does a London stop with her next book tour, I’m going to see if I can get there.

But I’m so tempted by More of Me! I think I’ll have to let the cat decide when I’m done with EVO Shift. The book she sits on I’ll read first.
Going to a book tour sounds so exciting! I’d love to visit it if she did stop off in London. Actually being able to go is a different matter, though, but I’d try 🙂

Eager to read your upcoming reviews. K.J. Chapman is great. I’m anxious to see what you think of Evo Shift. I’ll be grabbing it when it comes out in March. 🙂
Wow 17 books is a lot! You must feel so accomplished. The longest series I’ve gotten through was only 7 books long.
I vote you read A Darker Shade of Magic. I’ve heard such good things about it, and I’m hoping to read it soon too!

It’s really good so far, Teddie kicks butt! I’ll have the review next week Thursday hopefully but I’m off work that week so I can’t promise anything.
17 books is massive. I don’t think I realised what I was getting myself into when I bought the first one 😛

Awesome! Glad to hear it. No rush. You enjoy your week off. 🙂
Yeah, that’s crazy. Though now that I think about it I did read The Series of Unfortunate Events, but most of those books were really short.

I can’t wait to read ADSOM, everyone is so thrilled about it! Especially now that it looks like it’ll become a TV series. If you add Warheart (and I can’t recommend it enough) don’t start with it – there are another 16 books to read before that 🙂

Hmh, twitter has been buzzing about it 🙂
The series itself is called The Sword of Truth – although there are several sub series, sort of. It’s all part of the same series, though, the sub series just help put everything into one chronology 🙂

ooohh.. Gotta try out Terry Goodkind some time. Seventeen books seem like one huge challenge for me though. Should I read them in order or in any sort?
Interesting WWW! Here’s my WWW and maybe you could recommend a few books based on my current reads lol. I like your tastes~

Yes, definitely read them in order! This is the chronology: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sword_of_Truth 🙂 I can’t recommend this enough, I hope you enjoy it if you do!
Thank you! I’d say keep an eye on my reviews for any recommendations, but immediately Karen Miller’s books come to mind. This was the first one by her I’ve read: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2015492.Empress?from_search=true&search_version=service
Heading to your WWW now 🙂

You know, these books look really good and I’m not starting to question, because I go to the book store all the time and I know that I don’t see most of these books that you post there. I can find them online, just not in the store. I wonder if it’s because of where I’m at? If so, that’s decidedly not cool.

Maybe it’s just a really small book store? As long as you can make a note of the books somewhere you can come back to them later 🙂 My reading list has grown considerably since I got myself a Goodreads account!
Let me know if you read any of these 🙂 Happy reading!

No, it’s barnes and noble in OKC so a nice sized one. However, Barnes and Noble has a different branch for the UK from the US. Terry Goodkind is one that I can find though and I can find the rest in the UK and on Amazon, not a biggie.
Hey, when I got a Goodreads account my reading list went up as well. Hard for it not too, lol. I actually need to go on there and update it.
I definitely will. 🙂

I never used to jump on bandwagons but I do need to read it. There needs to be more urban fantasy in my life in general I think. Thank you, I hope you’ll enjoy it, too, when you get to it 🙂
