More of Me

I still couldn’t decide, so my SO chose for me and he chose this one. I’m not very far into it yet but I’m already enjoying it a lot and am ashamed to say that I had understood the blurb completely wrong! I thought this was going to be a story about a girl with DID, but it turns out her body actually, physically splits every year around her birthday. Unless I’ve misunderstood it again and my first thought was correct – in that case, well done Kathryn Evans for fooling me. Either way this has been very enjoyable so far and the many ages of Teva are extremely believable!

Blurb:

Teva seems normal. But at home she hides an impossible secret: 11 other Tevas. Because once a year, Teva splits into two, leaving a younger version of herself stuck at the same age, forced to watch the new Teva taking over her life. But at 16, Teva’s had enough. She’s going to fight for her future – even if that means fighting herself.

Imagine all your friends growing up, moving on, and you being stuck in one year of your life… More of Me is an incredible, unforgettable story of identity, friendship, love and sacrifice.

What I recently finished reading

evo-shift-jpeg

EVO Shift (ARC) – There’s no listing for the book yet, but here’s her author page on Goodreads 🙂

As always a full review will follow tomorrow, so for now let me keep it short. Buy this book. If you haven’t read the first one, EVO Nation, buy that one and read it first. It was a tense read with some natural (and much needed) laughs and some great character development. Yana really came into her own and Towley had me glaring at the screen for most of the second half. And then the ending really packed a punch but, again, more on that tomorrow!

Release Date: 1st March 2016, available as eBook

Blurb:

She killed him, but did it make a difference?

Her kind has been exposed, abused, and segregated, and now Teddie Leason is Britain’s most wanted EVO at just nineteen. Teddie has to decide whose side she is on, what she fights for, and whether it’s worth her life.

How can she protect the man she adores, the Uncle who has taken her under his wing, and her unfaltering friends, when she can barely take care of herself? Dealing with new power and a history that has long since been forgotten, has rendered the world’s most powerful EVO vulnerable and at risk.

When will she be dealt a winning hand? Could a clandestine, renegade group of EVO change not only her fate, but that of everyone affected by this unprecedented war? And how does Teddie fit in a world bracing for a shift of unfathomable magnitude?

What I think I’ll read next

A Darker Shade of Magic

There’s no thinking about it this time, I know I’ll read this next. Since I’m reading More of Me now, it’ll be A Darker Shade of Magic after! Probably followed by the sequel straight afterwards, since that’s out this week. I’ve entered a couple of giveaways so we’ll see what happens with those.

Blurb:

Kell is one of the last Travelers—rare magicians who choose a parallel universe to visit.

Grey London is dirty, boring, lacks magic, ruled by mad King George. Red London is where life and magic are revered, and the Maresh Dynasty presides over a flourishing empire. White London is ruled by whoever has murdered their way to the throne. People fight to control magic, and the magic fights back, draining the city to its very bones. Once there was Black London—but no one speaks of that now.

Officially, Kell is the Red Traveler, personal ambassador and adopted Prince of Red London, carrying the monthly correspondences between royals of each London. Unofficially, Kell smuggles for those willing to pay for even a glimpse of a world they’ll never see. This dangerous hobby sets him up for accidental treason. Fleeing into Grey London, Kell runs afoul of Delilah Bard, a cut-purse with lofty aspirations. She robs him, saves him from a dangerous enemy, then forces him to another world for her ‘proper adventure’.

But perilous magic is afoot, and treachery lurks at every turn. To save all of the worlds, Kell and Lila will first need to stay alive—trickier than they hoped
