I don’t have much to report this week – just a couple of small things and – oh, right! – something big πŸ˜‰ Something big which, I think, a lot of you will be quite excited about (it’s not the cover reveal – look for that in a couple of weeks, maybe) but let’s get to that in a moment. Stay with me, it’s worth it πŸ˜‰

For now, let me just briefly mention the smaller progresses made this week.

A couple of blog tour stops have been claimed (Monday and Wednesday) so there are another three left for the taking! Rise of the Sparrows will publish on 23rd May, so I’m looking for more stops within that week. I’ll start asking a few fellow bloggers next week, so this might be the last chance to volunteer! Depending on how many I can secure in the coming weeks I might do two a day, so if Monday or Wednesday are the only days working for you let me know πŸ™‚

The beta edit is going well. It’s crazy to think that I only have one more week for it, and then my novel is off to the editor! My novel! With a professional editor! And I’ll be sending out my ARCs next week Friday, too!

deep breath

Deep, deep breaths.

There are a lot of changes to be made and considered between all of my readers, but fortunately most of them are smaller changes so I have more time for the few bigger adjustments. One thing that’s helped a lot is reading. (What doesn’t that help with?) I realised this week that, while I notice things that bug me when I read (and we’re talking about ADSoM here!) – things I would have flagged up as a beta reader – , they don’t bug me enough now as a normal reader to stop reading. They are just little things that wouldn’t have gone unmentioned had I beta read the book, but that don’t bother me that much now, reading normally. It’s reassuring to see how much of a difference it makes!

Now, let’s move on to the big thing.

This week I’ve been experimenting with a couple of ideas. It’s gone all right, but I don’t think I’ve found the right way to begin either story yet. I do like them both, though, so I’ll keep playing with them for a little while longer before declaring them hopeless.

But that’s not the big thing. This is:

Earlier this week I mentioned on twitter that I’ve started plotting a new novel, and that I might have news today! And guess what? I do have news! πŸ˜‰ I think a lot of you will be quite excited about the idea I’m expanding into a novel, because it’s this one:

Click me! And me!

I’m not in any rush with it – Relics of Ar’Zac will remain my priority – and I have a lot of research to do for it, anyway. I’m not as familiar with sci-fi as I am with High Fantasy (or maybe I’m deluding myself there?) and I have a lot of reading on space to do, but I’m looking forward to it and have done a bit of planning already this week. No promises, but maybe I’ll have a very early excerpt next week. That’s a big maybe, though, so nobody get their hopes up!

What have you been up to this week? How is your own progress going? Would you like to be an advanced reader (last chance!) or host me as part of my blog tour?

Pull up a beanbag, grab a cookie, and let’s chat!

Happy writing/reading/plotting, everyone!
