The Siblings will be out for your eBook devices 12th April 2016. Scroll down for details.
“The sky has fallen. The world has been left in ruins, with only a few spots still prospering. Jest and Fer, brother and sister, wait out for the world to come to an undignified end. But in the commotion, havoc wreaks. The two are separated, taken on separate journeys by different factions.
Fer, pregnant, taken under the custody of the nefarious Operation, the political leaders of the new world, must fight for release in an attempt to reach her brother.
Jest, beaten and left for dead, is brought to safety by a surreptitious military group that know more of the new world than they are letting on.
The Siblings must persevere and fight through unimaginable obstacles to be reunited before it is too late.”
I shall be careful not to give away too much. If you do decide to read any of the ‘reviewed’ books I wouldn’t want to spoil the ending for you, or give away any other major plot twists, so I’ll try to be as vague as possible. However, these won’t be completely spoiler free so if that bugs you stop reading here.
What I thought:
I was really chuffed to receive an ARC of this, because I had followed his progress for months and because I thought I’d missed the deadline! The cover is temporary and I understand it will be replaced so all covers throughout the series match!
The Siblings is A. Morgans début novel, and is set in a dystopian world where solar flares have destroyed large parts of Earth. I hadn’t read many books in that genre before but it really made me want to read more! (Suggestions, anyone?)
It follows the lives of Jest and his pregnant sister Fer, who are struggling to survive and have accepted death as inevitable. It switches between both POVs which gives us a great picture of everything that’s going on. (Well, I say everything…)
The story is very fast paced with a lot of action and information, and progresses quickly. I might even reread it just in case I’ve missed anything. Fer especially has a lot of things going wrong, but Morgan does a good job of making sure we’re caught up on the action and aren’t missing any important information.
Just about every character has ulterior motives, and since Jest and Fer aren’t let in on everything we aren’t, either – but we can guess and it kept me on my toes.
The ending was a great set-up for the sequel, and I’m very intrigued by the ‘unknown beings’ everyone seems to know of, but no one really knows any details about. You only know that they are coming, and the implications at the very end are exciting.
Things are looking dark at the end, and rather ominous when we learn more about a prophecy everyone believes in.
I’m really excited for the sequel and can only urge you to get a copy once this is out. There is so much to say about this book but I’m trying to be vague, and you wouldn’t want to read the post I could have written anyway. It’d be very long, and why waste your time if I could just ask you to note the date in your diaries? Note the date in your diaries!
The Siblings will be out 12th April (five days!) for your eBook devices but you can already pre-order it here.
Are you excited for this book to come out, or have you got any questions before buying? Either way, drop me a comment and let’s get this book club going!
I don’t review books professionally, neither do I get paid for it. These reviews are mainly a small summary and my opinion on books I’ve loved, they are not intended to be anything more. All ‘reviews’ include a picture, title and name of author linking to the book’s Amazon listing, the blurb from the back of the book and my non-professional verdict.
