In this week’s prompt I’ve explored another idea I’ve had recently. Writing prompts are perfect for such exploration, and I’m finding myself doing it more and more often. I don’t know if this will go anywhere, but I did another prompt around the same idea, which will be published next week Monday πŸ™‚

I’m feeling myself drawn to this character and his story. With the second book in my seriesΒ and Immortals (temp. title) I don’t really have the time, but I’m definitely keeping it around for potential use later on πŸ™‚

As always, if the prompt speaks to you feel free to borrow it. If you do, please link back here so I can read your interpretation πŸ™‚

***

Put yourself or your character in a place where you feel vulnerable or uneasy.

“Kill Parry.”

My heart stopped and I hoped that it didn’t show on my face.Β I nodded.

“Is there a problem, Gaven?”

I was a trained assassin; a Shadow Walker. Killing people was what I did – but Parry? Parry was the last of his kind. He wasn’t the first I’d kill, but he would always be the last. Without him, there would never be others. An entire people would be dead because of me.

I shook my head to answer his question. “No.” I didn’t have many virtues, but even I could see the loss of the last of any species for what it was. Sad, and world-changing.

In my profession we slowly rid ourselves of work, contract by contract. I didn’t care, couldn’t care.

He couldn’t know I cared.

Effortlessly I became one with the shadows, and went to find Parry.
