What I’m currently reading
I’ve been dying to read this trilogy ever since I finished Crooked Kingdom, so I treated myself to all three when I won NaNo last year. I’m still reading The Night Circus as I’m preparing this post on Monday, so I’ll only just have started it by the time this post goes live!
Blurb:
Surrounded by enemies, the once-great nation of Ravka has been torn in two by the Shadow Fold, a swath of near impenetrable darkness crawling with monsters who feast on human flesh. Now its fate may rest on the shoulders of one lonely refugee.
Alina Starkov has never been good at anything. But when her regiment is attacked on the Fold and her best friend is brutally injured, Alina reveals a dormant power that saves his life—a power that could be the key to setting her war-ravaged country free. Wrenched from everything she knows, Alina is whisked away to the royal court to be trained as a member of the Grisha, the magical elite led by the mysterious Darkling.
Yet nothing in this lavish world is what it seems. With darkness looming and an entire kingdom depending on her untamed power, Alina will have to confront the secrets of the Grisha . . . and the secrets of her heart.

What I recently finished reading
This book was magic. And such a perfect way to kick off my bookish year, too! I doubt I’ve noticed everything that goes on inside and away from the circus, so I think reading it again at some point is a must! I’ll hopefully get around to reviewing it this week, so keep an eye on my Goodreads account for that. The review will be live here in a few weeks, too.
Blurb:
The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night.
But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway: a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors. Unbeknownst to them, this is a game in which only one can be left standing, and the circus is but the stage for a remarkable battle of imagination and will. Despite themselves, however, Celia and Marco tumble headfirst into love – a deep, magical love that makes the lights flicker and the room grow warm whenever they so much as brush hands.
True love or not, the game must play out, and the fates of everyone involved, from the cast of extraordinary circus performers to the patrons, hang in the balance, suspended as precariously as the daring acrobats overhead.

What I think I’ll read next
I’m going to binge read this series until there’s nothing left to feast my soul upon ❤
Blurb:
Hunted across the True Sea, haunted by the lives she took on the Fold, Alina must try to make a life with Mal in an unfamiliar land. She finds starting new is not easy while keeping her identity as the Sun Summoner a secret. She can’t outrun her past or her destiny for long.
The Darkling has emerged from the Shadow Fold with a terrifying new power and a dangerous plan that will test the very boundaries of the natural world. With the help of a notorious privateer, Alina returns to the country she abandoned, determined to fight the forces gathering against Ravka. But as her power grows, Alina slips deeper into the Darkling’s game of forbidden magic, and farther away from Mal. Somehow, she will have to choose between her country, her power, and the love she always thought would guide her–or risk losing everything to the oncoming storm.
Also-
I’ve been meaning to read this play for a while (not only because the author happens to be my editor), so when it was free last week I had to get it! Because it’s so short I’m planning on reading it one morning this week as a break from my edits. I’m thinking a nice cuppa tea, some biscuits and a warm blanket will be perfect with it ❤
Blurb:
The Seeker has grown up in a world where deliberate physical contact is a crime, and for most of her life, it hasn’t bothered her. But when some of her classmates are arrested for touching, she decides to try the most forbidden of things and touch another person. When she discovers the power of touching, and how it changes her and those around her, will the Seeker be content to return to a life without it?

Crooked Kingdom was so good! Even better than Six of Crows, in my opinion ^-^ I’ve started it now and so far I’m enjoying it 🙂
The Night Circus is one of my favourite books ❤ Although I think I'll need to re-read it at some point, because I'm sure I've missed things!

The Night Circus is a lengthy read so I don’t think I’ll be re-reading it anytime soon. Lol. But why not if I have a lot of free time! And I hope you continue to enjoy Shadow and Bone!! 🙂

I also binge read the Grisha trilogy and I enjoyed it so much. I devoured everything I could get my hands on from Leigh Bardugo last year and loved it all. I also really enjoyed The Night Circus last year, such a beautifully written book.

It seemed like a good one to binge read since they’re all so short! I’m really enjoying it so far, and I’m getting through it fast! ^-^

They’re so good! I read them in a few days (granted I was off work at the time, but still). I just love Bardugo’s writing and world building.

I do, too, it’s such an inspiration ❤ I'll happily admit that I've taken something away from it and have applied what I've learned in my own duology! ^-^ I've learned so much from them, they're a treasure!

While I did think there were some structural things in The Night Circus that could have done with sorting out, the writing was spectacular. The descriptions of the Circus in particular… and I want that clock!! 🙂
I’m glad you’re enjoying The Grisha Trilogy. I didn’t like it as much as Six of Crows/CK, but then I think that was because I didn’t warm to the main characters in the trilogy while I absolutely loved Kaz and his crew.

Never mind the clock, I want to go!! 😀
I’m enjoying it so far but I definitely loved Six of Crows and Crooked KIngdom more! Of course, she wrote the trilogy first and we improve as we go, so it makes sense that we enjoyed her later characters more 😉 I do like Alina, but no one tops Jasper and Wylan ❤ NO ONE!

I loved the Grisha trilogy, the second book is probably the weakest but overall it’s a great read. I do love pretty much everything Leigh Bardugo writes, including the short stories I’ve come across.
I’ve had The Night Circus on my TBR pile for a while. I really must read it.

I do, too, although I haven’t come across her short stories! I’ll have to find them later! I’m getting through Shadow and Bone so quickly that I think I’ll be on Book3 by the time my next WWW post goes live 😛
You must! I’ve never seen this much magic in one book ❤

Ooh I love Leigh Bardugo!! She’s amazing.😍 And her books are all stunning, although I have a slight extra love for Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom. But I hope you adore meeting Sturmhond in book 2 there! HE IS THE ACTUAL BEST.😂

They are, inside and out ❤ I do, too, but that might have something to do with how they were the first books by her I read. I still need to rearrange my bookshelf so that the Grisha trilogy can hang out with SoC and CK. Right now they're only sharing a shelf and that's not good enough.
I've been really looking forward to him, actually! 😀 All the more excited now!

Such great reads are here! I’m glad you’re enjoying the series! I binge read the last two which helped my enjoyment because the second was not as good and the third was my favourite 🙂
I’m also thrilled that you enjoyed the Night Circus! One of my favourite books. I hope to reread it one day soon 🙂
Happy Reading!

I keep hearing that Book2 suffered from Middle Book Syndrome! I’ll probably start Siege and Storm tomorrow, so we’ll see how it goes 🙂 They’re all such fast reads that I’m not worried!
I really did, it was so magical! I only regret that I couldn’t give it the attention it deserved in the beginning, but it was well worth the wait! 🙂
Happy reading, Faith!
