WWW Wednesday

This meme will be categorised together with my book reviews. All links will get you to the book’s Goodreads listing, as always 🙂

This post is largely the same as my previous post two weeks ago I’m afraid, but I’ll try to make it worthwhile ^^

What I’m currently reading

WWW270116.1The Name of the Wind

You guys. This book? You guys, this book! This is the book my books want to be like when they grow up. I’m both excited to get to the end as well as sad to get to the end. I haven’t had many book hangovers, but this will hurt for a while. I’m so glad I decided to read it despite its length. So, so glad.

I have so much love for this book. There should be a review next week Thursday, but I worry it’ll just be me gushing over how much I loved it. That’s a valid review, right?

Blurb:

Told in Kvothe’s own voice, this is the tale of the magically gifted young man who grows to be the most notorious wizard his world has ever seen.

The intimate narrative of his childhood in a troupe of traveling players, his years spent as a near-feral orphan in a crime-ridden city, his daringly brazen yet successful bid to enter a legendary school of magic, and his life as a fugitive after the murder of a king form a gripping coming-of-age story unrivaled in recent literature.

A high-action story written with a poet’s hand, The Name of the Wind is a masterpiece that will transport readers into the body and mind of a wizard.

What I recently finished reading

Nothing. If I didn’t need to go to work, eat or sleep I’d have finished The Name of the Wind by now, but I’m not quite there yet.

What I think I’ll read next

the caves of steelThe Caves of Steel

Some progress at least has been made. I have decided which book I’ll read next, and it’ll be The Caves of Steel. I have no idea how I haven’t read this sci-fi classis sooner, but it’s next on my list! It’s also short, so it shouldn’t take me long to get through.

Blurb:

A millennium into the future two advancements have altered the course of human history: the colonization of the galaxy and the creation of the positronic brain. Isaac Asimov’s Robot novels chronicle the unlikely partnership between a New York City detective and a humanoid robot who must learn to work together. Like most people left behind on an over-populated Earth, New York City police detective Elijah Baley had little love for either the arrogant Spacers or their robotic companions. But when a prominent Spacer is murdered under mysterious circumstances, Baley is ordered to the Outer Worlds to help track down the killer. The relationship between Life and his Spacer superiors, who distrusted all Earthmen, was strained from the start. Then he learned that they had assigned him a partner: R. Daneel Olivaw. Worst of all was that the “R” stood for robot–and his positronic partner was made in the image and likeness of the murder victim!
